I was taught in school to appreciate Spring. To notice the first blooms and to feel the lighthearted feelings of Spring coming. The blooming trees are so beautiful. And I love seeing flowers with water drops on them. So aesthetically pleasing. I guess we were programmed to like such things. And I guess not all the people like the same things. It's hard to imagine that someone wouldn't find the blooming flowers endearing... but maybe someone wouldn't?
Imagine creating life. And the first movement. The first development. Sounds fascinating to me. Mothers look adoringly at their children...new life... Some life is so beautiful. Some is damaged. It seems there is no perfect method to create only great and perfect pieces of life. In any batch of harvest, there is always some rotten fruits or vegetables, some that "didn't turn out". Christians believe that God created men perfect. But we certainly don't see the proof of that, do we? Christians had to find an explanation to why men are not perfect, so they came up with a sin problem and that God had to curse the people because of it and so now people are imperfect.
Did you ever try to create a story? You need a plot, a beginning, and the ending and you need to figure why such and such would happen? So when I read the book of Genesis, I "smell" a story like narration. The person believed that God created the earth, and also that God was perfect. And so, if a perfect God created perfect people, what can account for imperfect people on earth? He thought about it for a minute and then said: "oh, I got it; people disobeyed God and then God cursed them and they became imperfect." Hmm. strange, isn't it: the perfect people disobeyed? Hmm.... I guess even the perfect people could be bad then? Unless they were only perfect in the way they looked, but that is so shallow, to call them perfect just because of that. Anyways, there are many unrealistic things in stories and in movies.
Some Christians believe that the Devil used to be a perfect Angel. Well, if the angel has become imperfect and fell, and the human has become imperfect and fell, well then how will God keep the people that he takes to heaven from falling and disobeying? It seems that the perfect ones fall ! So what will God do when yet another batch of living beings in heaven will fall? Condemn them too? (Well, besides, it makes me angry that God keeps making living beings, knowing that many of them will fall and that he would have to send them to hell. Wouldn't it be much more loving of God to STOP making living beings then? But this subject is for another day...)
Many people believe that God will take them to heaven and make them perfect there. But the question is: when is it you? What if your habits changed and your desires changed and the way you look and act changed, would that still be you? Well, hopefully you won't be perfected as much as to make this "you" disappear? Is it our memories who make us us perhaps? In that case, hope that our memories are still in tact. But in any case, this fate is much better than going to hell for sure. I just wanted to bring it up because I think that most people don't realize that if you are perfected too much, there is no more you.
But again, I am being sidetracked by my own mind. So, getting back to the story - where did we come from? Christians believe that the Bible is true and therefore reject scientific data which rejects whatever the Bible says. I know how it feels because I did it too. But that did not make me right. That did not make it be true. Believing something doesn't make it true. So doesn't it seem a bit illogical to believe something if you have NO IDEA that it's true? Well, most people believe things without proof (be it religious or non religious things). So it's an ability we have, the ability to believe that something is true even though it's not. Like everything else, this ability has good and bad sides to it. But when there is no proof either way, it's ok to believe whatever you want I think. Who is to say that you're wrong? However, if there is identifiable scientific data that rejects your beliefs, shouldn't you reject them too? What basis do you have to keep holding on to your belief? None. It's just being messed up in your mind, or blinded in your mind. Some people call it being brainwashed.
Well, the fact is, we are like little robots who can be reprogrammed to think whatever way the programmer wants us to think. And we can't help it. As long as we are holding on to something (like a religious or other belief), then we will be blinded to the facts that state the opposite of what we believe. We have the ability to be loyal and this ability sometimes shows itself when we are loyal to the nonsense, even when the facts state otherwise. But people in love know that state, right? When they refuse to see the faults of the one they love? When they choose to deny the faults and choose to keep believing otherwise? That's the power of love. And it relates to religion. Some people are in love with their belief and don't want to let go. Notice that it's much easier to show the truth to those who already question their belief, who are disillusioned with their belief and not in love anymore.
So the Bible says that God created the world in six days and some believe it even though carbon dating shows otherwise. The Bible talks about a flat earth and God abiding above the circle of the Earth (Jer 40:22 or Is), when science shows that the earth is a sphere. Christians assume that God has created only one planet when there are billions of planets out there and what, all empty? Was earth here only for 6000 years? When did Lucifer fell, before the earth's creation? Was the earth God's first creation? Even though there are billions of other planets out there.
Then the Bible says that God spent a whole day making a human and some other things on planet earth and then spent another day (just a day) to make the stars. Well, the ancient people didn't know much about what stars are. So they thought it was just a bunch of lights that God spread on the top of the sky. But WE know that stars are like our sun and stars are other planets.... and when we see them now, we know that we are seeing them in the past, by the time the light travels to us, much time passes ... So God spent one day on making the tiny planet earth and then spent just a day on making a bunch of other planets and suns? To me, it sounds like a story told by a person who didn't realize what the stars really were...
Anyways, it doesn't sound like the account in Genesis is what really happened. But what DID happen? How did we come to be? Well, I found it interesting that there is a possibility that we and some monkeys had a common ancestor and that carbon dating states that this earth was here for a while, a great while... I guess, at some point, our bodies used to make Vitamin C. But then at some point, this gene that makes it got broken. And the broken gene was inherited by future generations. But the Vitamin C still works in some animals. So, isn't it interesting that this gene that got broken is in some monkeys as well as humans as though both monkeys and humans inherited it from someone else? Perhaps we did evolve from someone else. Does that mean that there was no Creator? Not necessarily. What if there was a Creator, but he used evolution as a creation method? Maybe... Some people would say: absolutely not. But why not? Maybe life just happened by itself. Or maybe there was a Creator. Both possibilities exist, don't they? At least until we prove otherwise.
Well, some would say that there is no sign of a Creator. However, there are too many rumors going on of some strange happenings to just ignore it all and state that what we see is what we get. I think there is something more, something that we are yet to discover. But until we know for sure, isn't it better to keep an open mind? Instead of stating your belief based on nothing and then arguing with opposing views just for the sake of arguing?
Why do we assume that we are THE FIRST life out there? What if already trillions of years have passed and there are other planets and a highly evolved life? What if our planet is one of the youngest ones out there? Could it be that they evolved high enough to be able to create a planet with life on it? Could they have created our planet? Of course that would still leave a question of where did they come from? Yes, it's true. But still, there are many possibilities as far as who created us or whether we just came about by accident...including the discoveries that we were NOT the first... What if there are aliens who evolved high enough to be able to communicate with primitive life forms like ours? All those rumors about God speaking to people...what if it was some aliens who spoke to people through their thoughts? What if there are other humanoids on other planets? We can't see too much outside of where we live. But if we could, would we discover that there are other universes besides ours? Well, "a little birdie" told me that there are. And I, for one, choose to believe it. And why not?
So where did the spark of life came from? I am not sure either. But I am keeping my mind open and my ears ready to hear. At this moment I am convinced only of one thing, that there is no Monster in the Sky who created hell and sends there most of the living beings that he supposedly created and that he supposedly loves. And I can breathe easier. Although I heard a rumor that in some cases, some will be able to create their own reality and appear where they believe they should be. And I feel sorry for those people who are convinced that they are going to hell. Because it may become a self fulfilled prophesy for them, something they created for themselves and put themselves into, just by believing. But I also heard that someone out there helps these poor people, helps them to see that you don't have to stay in this reality (whatever it is that they create for themselves). My grandma who is a devoted Christian, has probably gone to heaven described in Revelation, where people bow down and worship God for most of their stay there. She also believes that people there wear crowns. I think that at some point she will realize that she does not need to stay in that reality (of wearing heavy golden crowns and bowing down all the time) and can move on somewhere else. So is this true? I can't prove it one way or the other/ And then another thing that I am really convinced of is that life is extremely complicated and not simple like people think it is. And we are definitely not alone.
